Boat Dock project 03/08/2025
One of the first projects we tackled at the lake house was giving the old boat dock a much-needed makeover—after all, it’s where we spend some of our favorite moments by the lake. The dock had seen better days, weathered by years of sun and storms, and it was definitely showing its age. So, when the county temporarily drained the lake for two months to allow residents to make post-hurricane repairs, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to breathe new life into it. We started by tearing down the worn-out railings, then gave every inch a deep power wash to strip away layers of old paint and tired wood. Once everything was clean and dry, we sealed the entire dock with a marine-grade wood sealant to protect it for many lake seasons to come.
To top it all off with a touch of nautical charm, we ordered 150 feet of rope to create fresh new railings. It took a couple of weeks and plenty of elbow grease, but sitting on the dock now—freshly restored and ready for sunset views—we know every bit of effort was worth it.
